That way I will get to see everyone, even if we didn't really know each other in H.S. My wife of almost 36 years will be visiting our daughter, who is a pediatrician in Rochester, so won't be there. My mother still lives in our old house on the corner of 75h and Roe, so she watches kids walk to SME every day. My son is an architect and wedding photographer, and now lives in Prairie Village too. I have been working for the U.S. Department of State as a Foreign Service Officer since 1976 and spent around 20 years at U.S. embassies in Europe, Africa, and Latin America. I am now based permanently in the Washington, D.C. area. Next year will celebrate 25 years of marriage to Jenneke, whom I met while living in the Netherlands; we have a girl 20 and a boy 17. Most of my K.C. family has passed on, but my younger brother John lives in Prairie Village, so I get home once in awhile. Have a great reunion!

Whether I'll make it to the reunion remains to be seen, but I know everyone will have a terrific time. I've been right here in KC since KU, 26 years in Gladstone, and the last 8 in Overland Park. I gravitated toward computers. These days I teach and support MS Office for the company I'm with. My kids are grown. Crystin (31) is married and has 1 boy and one on the way. (Potential impact on my ability to attend, as I'm on call to watch #1.) David (29) is just finishing his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering. I'm still quiet and basically a hermit other than work, kids/grandkids, and an occasional trip. The Galapagos Islands has been my absolute favorite so far. I hope the reunion is a whopping success! Maybe I'll even see you there.

Regards to everyone and congrats to us all for just surviving! I'm in LA after time in NY and SF (moved here in '77 for five years..go figure). Have owned a boutique PR and marketing firm for 23 years and do a lot of crisis work. It stays interesting. No children, but I live with a wonderful man, have wonderful family and crazy friends, and land in Durango, Co. where I still want to live (ideally with Ken). Few complaints except I'd still like to write a few books that have been rumbling in my head for the past umpteen years. Give a shout if any of you come out this way, or write to say hello.

I worked in IT at KU for 32 years, most of the time as a middle manager. Retired in 2007. Jenny and I rescued two ca. 1912 houses in the neighborhood that were about to be turned into parking lots, moved them to the site at 7th and New York St., built a connection between them, and have been there ever since. She's now semi-retired, but keeping her fingers in KU research. We love travel, and have been traveling independently in Europe about once a year. After being out of school from CU (Colorado) for awhile, I got a master's degree in nutrition and became a registered dietitian. I was a contract medical writer for 10 years while I did the "Mom" stuff with Jaime. I went back to work last year as a clinical nutritionist on a MCH training grant in Pediatrics. My parents are almost 93 years old, living in Village Shalom in Leawood. I plan to be at the reunion - I would love to find the subgroup of us who went to Prairie Grade School and Indian Hills. I still have my yearbooks!! |

My husband Sandy Groves and I are planning on being at the reunion - the first I will have been to since graduating from SME. I've really lost track of most SME folks so the reunion will be great. After SME I went to KU and got an MPA - I worked for 30 years in local government (the last position was city manager of Fremont, CA in the Bay Area) - and in 2004 decided it was time for more lifestyle flexibility so I became a consultant to local govts. My husband is retired and is now a clay artist, making pottery. My mother still lives in Overland Park and I get back to KC and Lawrence pretty often for family and KU activities. She lives in Colorado and will be married in February. She is quite an accomplished equestrian. Our son, Ryan, was just married Nov 8 in Hawaii. We enjoyed our first visit to beautiful Hawaii and had a great time. Sean is at Wake Forest (a senior)pursuing a masters in Business/Accounting and Scott is a junior in high school playing in premier traveling soccer leagues. | Comments: | I live with my husband of 35 years in southern Overland Park. My oldest son works for Sprint and my youngest son is an athletic trainer for the OSU football team in Stillwater. We all graduated from KSU. I work in the Zurich building across from what use to be a miniature golf course and driving range 40 years ago, at College and Metcalf. I visited Mr. Geraci when my son had him his senior year at Blue Valley Northwest. I introduced myself as a former student and he pulled out the 1969 Harbinger from his yearbook collection. Our principal, Carl Ison, is alive and well. He lives on the same floor as my mother-in-law at Lakeview Village in Lenexa. Last year his family came in from all over the US to celebrate his 98th birthday. He has stayed active (and slim) by dancing several times a week, playing cards and staying involved in Lakeview programs. A bad case of the flu this winter and problems with his diabetes has slowed him down but he still drives to the grocery store and community center several times a week. |

I've kept regular contact with Melissa Wayne (we've known each other since we were 2 years old!), and a few other Lancers occasionally. (Pat Schloerb is my sister-in-law). | Comments: | Just heard about this site from a classmate. Have been back in KC for 30 years now and my youngest just graduated from college. Both girls graduated from SME and it was fun reliving high school through sports and drama/theatre events and serving as a PTA officer and choir president. Julie had Susie Jackson Schweiker for an English class and Megan had Mr. Dillon for journalism and Bernie Ford for math. Both were lucky enough to have Ray Runyan for calculus before he retired. I sent my "Harbie Jock-Staff" t-shirt in to the Harbinger class as an "antique." Still have that and my Syncronettes sweatshirt. Drill team uniforms have certainly changed! I can only imagine what Mrs. Howard would say about the bare midriffs! |

Living in OP, still traveling most of the time - the secret of a long marriage - 35 years. Retired from the US Army after 30 years and am dreaming of retiring again from civilian life with EDS but have a daughter in college so tuition comes first. Worked on Habitat for Kaplan - the last good administrator they had in KC. . Saw Sue Jackson at Scott Thompson's memorial and am looking forward to reading the site for more news. |

Last time was July for my father in laws funeral, we (still married to Lynn) drove out to what was the boondocks (pretty much anything much past 95th Street and were amazed! Will try for the 40th! For what it's worth, our son (30) came with us, who's lived in many US cities, Paris, Afghanistan, and now Africa) was really impressed with KC. |
